How do you brand music on visual media? In developing the identity for Ding Yi Music Company, we started listening not to their compositions but to interviews with the ensemble’s musicians and music director, who awed us with their musical knowledge and, most importantly, inspired us with stories of how they feel whenever they play and hear this genre of Chinese classical music.
And that became the project's touchstone: To capture the transportive and atmospheric nature of this brand of sounds...So evocative you can hear it just by seeing it.
